Oman's TRA steps in to regulate unsolicited calls

Muscat: The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has issued a regulation governing promotional and service calls, messages, and value-added services in response to the growing volume of unwanted marketing communications.

The regulation enables the Caller Name Display service, allows beneficiaries to opt out, and provides a clear reporting mechanism. Its objectives are to protect beneficiaries' interests, foster a flexible regulatory environment, and better align with stakeholder needs and expectations.
